Join East Timor Hearts Fund for a special a screening of Take Heart: Deadly Heart to raise awareness of rheumatic heart disease (RHD) in Australia and one of our closest neighbours, Timor-Leste.

RHD is a killer disease that can be prevented. Some of the highest rates RHD in the world are found among Indigenous Australians, and Timorese people.

Take Heart: Deadly Heart tells the inspiring story of how remote Aboriginal communities across the top end of Australia are adopting innovative strategies to eliminate RHD once and for all.

Hear from our guest speakers:

  • Dr Ari Horton – A paediatrician and cardiologist at Melbourne Heart Care featured in the film; and East Timor Hearts Fund Clinical Governance Committee Member.
  • Vicki Wade – A Noongar woman; Producer of Take Heart: Deadly Heart; and Director of RHDAustralia at Menzies School of Health Research.
  • Professor Sandra Eades AO – A Noongar woman; Rowden White Professor of Health Equity at the University of Melbourne; and East Timor Hearts Fund Director.
